How We Got Started

Laptop Repair Innyc grew out of something fairly simple: a technician who got tired of seeing people pay for repairs that didn't actually fix the underlying problem, or being told their device was beyond repair when it wasn't.

James Thornton started doing repairs informally in 2016, mostly for people in the Etobicoke neighbourhood who'd been quoted high prices elsewhere or simply needed a second opinion. Word spread gradually, and within a year or two, the workload justified moving into a proper workshop space.

We've kept the team small deliberately. A bigger team isn't necessarily better — what matters is that each repair gets adequate time and attention, and that customers are talked to like adults rather than upsold on services they don't need.

Repair Philosophy

Diagnose First

We don't start repairs before we understand what's actually wrong. Skipping this step is how avoidable mistakes happen and parts get replaced unnecessarily.

Communicate Clearly

We explain what we found in plain language before any work begins. If the repair isn't cost-effective, we'll say so rather than proceed with work that doesn't make sense.

Work Carefully

Laptops are intricate. Rushed work often creates new problems. We take the time the repair actually needs rather than cutting corners to speed up turnaround.

Respect the Device

We treat customer laptops as we'd treat our own. That means careful handling, proper documentation, and putting things back together the way they came apart.

We haven't tried to grow at all costs. The focus has been on doing consistent, reliable work.
